Movies that get a sequel means one thing: they succeeded at getting us to spend our 8.50 and making serious bank. However, when it comes to the third entry in the trilogy, it falls on its face. Here is my Top Four on trilogies worth watching.

4. Austin Powers: Each of the Austin Powers movies are fun to watch. I have seen each one at least 5 times and will continue to watch them on a boring day at home. Mike Myers created one of the most funniest characters in a trilogy, enough to possibly turn this trilogy into a four-box set. Admittedly, the first movie wasn't as strong as the second and third, but overall this is a must have in your DVD collection.

3. Matrix/X-Men(Tie): I had to make this entry a tie with The Matrix and X-Men Trilogies since this is a top 4 list and not a top 5 lol. The Matrix took a simple concept and made it interesting enough to make 4 movies out of it, althuogh Matrix Revolutions wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be. Each X-Men movie was fantastic, but The Last Stand felt incomplete to me. The third movie in a trilogy should be all about closure and not have us thinking there will be a fourth movie. With that being said, these two trilogies made it in my list so definitely add these to your collection.

2. Bourne: Jason Bourne. This deadly amnesiac kept us on the edge of our seats in every one of the three movies. Whenever I see a Bourne movie on TV, there is no way I can change the channel. I think what made this trilogy successful is the fact that all three movies felt like one big movie. If you haven't experienced a Bourne movie...shame on you...go rent it right now!

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: I could have put another title here(Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, etc), but to me this is my definite number one trilogy. Each Pirates of the Caribbean movie, especially the third one, had production values out the ying-yang. And Johnny Depp owned the character of Jack Sparrow. He was born to play that roll, and the rest of the co-stars did some excellent acting. I think what put this trilogy over the top for me was the story. The first movie got you warmed up, the second movie took off like a rocket, and the third movie had an excellent ending. All in all, this is my favorite trilogy due to each movie being a classic on its own.

Close Calls: Lord of the Rings, Spider Man, Ocean's 11, 12, 13.

One Response so far.

Well, I'm not to big on trilogies but I have seen a few. I love Austin Powers, Gold Member was my favorite, gross as hell, but I loved it. The Matrix, let me keep this simple, DIDN'T GET IT.
I actually enjoyed Ocean 11, 12,and 13. However, wasn't my favorite. I must say I have to agree with you on Pirate's Of The Caribbean. This is indeed my favorite trilogy with Part 2 being the best!
