In past Sims games, your sims were pretty basic. All they really did was eat, sleep and... you know what. Without your input, they would basically live boring lives until they burned their house down. The Sims 3 is out to change all that with ramping up the AI of not only your sims, but the entire town of sims.

The more processing power your PC has, the more sims you can have in one town. Each and every sim person in your town will have a "life", meaning they will go to work, have goals and dreams, use the bathroom, walk around town and visit friends, etc. You see, in The Sims 2 you built your house and lived your life from this house. In The Sims 3, you can actually leave your house and stroll around town, kind of like Desperate Housewives. Everyone you see in the town will actually have a brain, which is definitely exciting to say the least.
